In-person training must have limited participants, socially distanced. Virtual trainings are ideal.
2. Safety Technology on a Vehicle
Lane change alerts, blind spot warnings and other safety technologies are being reevaluated to determine effectiveness.
3. Telematics on Drivers
Telematics is being evaluated to determine effectiveness at changing driver behavior to increase safety.
4. Distracted Driving Issues
Efforts are being made to lessen the safety risks that come with the technology available to drivers.
5. Marijuana Usage
Some states are legalizing recreational marijuana and this is certainly a trucking safety issue.
6. MVR
Keeping current MVR reports reduces liability by looking at any safety risks a driver may present.
7. Reducing Preventable Accidents
According to a July 20, 2020 article in Work Truck Magazine, “…40% of all accidents are preventable..” Reducing this percentage can decrease costs.
8. Emphasize Fleet Safety
Fleet management must be dedicated to communicating and enforcing COVID-19 protocols.
9. High-Risk Drivers
Monitoring high-risk drivers to ensure they’re obeying all safety rules is priority.
