South California’s leading primary electricity supply company, Southern California Edison (SCE) will initiate a three-month testing trial of the battery-electric Class 8 truck on Freightliner eCascadia from the Freightliner Customer Experience (CX) Fleet.
SCE principal manager of Fleet Management, Todd Carlson mentioned, “SCE’s testing of the eCascadia is a major step down the path of achieving our company’s fleet electrification goals,”.
Edison International, SCE’s parent company recently announced their goal to electrify 30% of its medium-duty vehicles and pickup trucks and 8% of their heavy-duty trucks. SCE will premier testing an electric from Freightliner, an eCascadia to be used in transporting materials, moving heavy equipment such as transformers, wire reels and switch gears from Irwindale, California warehouse to SCE service centers and storage yards.
